I went to see HALF LIGHT last Friday nignt. And my review is as following:

 

If I am asked to give some key words to this movie, my answer would be “betrayal, single mother and supernatural ”.

 

Betrayal is the core concept through the whole story, though we can only know this at the very end. (But cute guys can get it much earlier). Rachel (Demi Moore) is a successful novelist. Her son’s tragic drowning made her life down and gloomy. She takes her best friend’s advice, moves to a remote cottage on the Scottish coast. Strange things start to happen…At last, I know the whole thing is a plot, which was designed by Rachel’s friend. But, what is her name? I forget. Sorry. Her friend wants to murder her for the sake of money. Betrayed by one’s best friend, which is really really a huge tragedy.

 

Single mother. I believe most people would have preferred to bring a child into the world with two loving parents. But, we can not control everything, something unpredictable often happens. I once wrote in my previous blog, single mother is a group, who needs care and love. Life is tough for them, especially in the poor economic conditions. However, Rachel is a rich novelist. She has no need to worry about her living cost. But to her, her five-year old some weighs much heavier than wealth, he means all to her life, gives her support and warm both mentally and physically. Unfortunately, her son passed away.

 

Supernatural. After Rachel’s settlement in the faraway village, her demons have followed her.  Loneliness and paranoia leave her not knowing what is real and what is imagination in the fight to save her life. Dose something supernatural really exist in the world? From this movie, the answer is YES. Because she is kind of protected by her son’s soul.

 

Over all, I think this movie is excellent, except some thrilling turns and parts that really scare me a bit. And Demi Moore’s performance is sooooo great! She is still pretty and elegant at the age of more than 40. What an inspiring actress!

 

The most important is, I enjoy the beautiful sceneries in the movie. Coastal village of the UK, and the music is touching also.
